Nashik City and the surrounding area is famous for many temples, pilgrimage places etc. One of the sacred places for Jain Religion is Teerthraj Gajpantha , which is at Mhasrul, 16 kms from Nashik Road Railway station and 5 kms from Nashik City. The famous CHAMBER CAVES are a part of this place. It is situated on the top of a small hill which is only 400 ft tall. The staircase, built in black stone leads to the temple and offers a panoramic view. Although the nearby landscape is quite barren, some plantation has been recently done. This is a very serene place, conducive for meditation. Gajapantha Teerth includes a caravanserai, a small hut the foot of the hill and a temple at the top of the Gajadhwaja Hillock. As per the ancient holy book "Shantinath Purana" Mysore’s Chamaraj King installed these statues (600 B.C.) in the temple top the hill. Thus the caves got the name "Chamer Caves" or "Chambhar Caves" in the regional language.

Trimbakeshwar temple is a religious center having one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The extraordinary feature of the Jyotirlinga located here is its three faces embodying Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Rudra. Due to excessive use of water, the linga has started to erode. It is said that this erosion symbolizes the eroding nature of human society. The Lingas at Trimbakeshwar are covered by a jeweled crown which is placed over the Gold Mask of Tridev (Brahma Vishnu Mahesh). The crown is said to be from the age of Pandavs and consists of diamonds, emeralds, and many precious stones. The crown is displayed every Monday from 4-5 pm (Shiva).All other Jyotirlingas have Shiva as the main deity. The entire black stone temple is known for its appealing architecture and sculpture and is at the foothills of a mountain called Brahmagiri.Three sources of the godavari originate from the brahmagiri mountain. 500 years back from now there was built a city which later on became famous as Trimbakeshwar. In the period of the Peshwas regime Nana Saheb Peshwa had instructed to sonstruct the Trimbakeshwar temple and developed and beautified the city of Trimbakeshwar.

 Behind the Pandav Caves, is the biggest Artillery Center in Asia. Devlali railway station is nearest railway station to reach Artillery Centre Nashik. This artillery center was shifted from Pakistan in 1947, and is now completing its 50th year. The Indian army's officers and soldiers are trained here. Training for 'Bofors Gun' is given here. The area is under military and is restricted for civilians.

his temple, which celebrated its centenary seven years ago, belongs to Damodar Vishnu alias Damu Anna Dongare. Born in a family of scholars in Vedshashtra, Damu Anna was very knowledgeable in medicine and also in music - he himself was a tabla player. The property on which this temple stands today, belonged to Damu Anna and there was a lovely garden watered from the well in the backyard. Once during meditation he sensed a divine directive to build a Ganapati mandir. Same night, he caught a burglar trying to break open a jeweller’s shop across the street. The jeweller offered to give a prize of Damu Anna’s choice. Damu Anna asked him to donate a marble deity of Ganesh and the jeweller very happily complied with the request. Thereafter this temple was constructed where Damu Anna’s love for music is nurtured even today. Bhadrapad and Maghi festivals are celebrated as also every Chaturthi, concerts are held in the temple. As you turn from Mahatma Gandhi Road to Main Road near Ravivar fountain, you come across this temple on your left. Long and wide main hall, a pretty idol and old glass chandeliers impress you instantly. The Ganesh idol faces the east.

Gondeshvar or Govindeshvar temple of the numerous shrines in Sinnar, the ones sacred to Gondeshvar and Aieshvar are the most significant as also antique. To the north-east outside the town stands the splendid black-stone temple of Gondeshvar weathered by the wind and sun of centuries. It is still the largest, most complete and the best preserved example of mediaeval temples of the Deccan built on a variation of the Indo-Aryan style, which had penetrated into a part of the Deccan during the middle ages. It is a Shaiva Panchayatan, or a group of five temples, within a large enclosure, the central shrine being dedicated to Shiva, and the remaining four around it to Parvati, Ganapati, Surya and Vishnu.

The Godavari Temple was built by Elder Madhavrao Peshwa's mother, Gopikabai in 1760. This temple is open for devotees only during the period of Kumbhamela (once in 12 years) for 13 months. It is also called Ganga Temple.
